January 24, 1837. In 1858 he came to Illinois and settled in Whiteside county and engaged in farming. Two years later he removed to this county and bought a farm in Arcola township, where he resided up to the time when he traded his farm for one in Tuscola township; upon the latter place he lived and farmed successfully up to the year 1884. That year he was elected by his party treasurer of Douglas county and most efficiently served in this capacity for one term.
